simple memories {scrapbook challenges}

good evening scrappy friends!

it is finally officially open! the new website of scrapbook challenges is up and running and everyone is welcome to stop by and say "HI"!

to start you up and keep it interesting we decided to have a special GRAND OPENING CHALLENGES section in the forum where you can join us every day in a different challenge.

today is my turn to challenge you and my challenge to you is to create a layout about a NEW BEGINNING. it can be anything - a NEW house, a NEW member of your family, a NEW job. anything that comes to mind when you hear "NEW BEGINNING".

here is some inspiration from me:

i used the very NEW PRIMA paper pads LEDGER 12" x 12".

on the picture are my kiddos with their cousins. just looking at at those six hugging and smiling together makes me think of NEW life, NEW friends and NEW adventures!

in the journalling spot i listed their names and age at the time the picture was taken. i hope that many years from now, when they look at this picture, they will remember those precious moments together and it will make them smile:-)

i used PRIMA marketing flowers and rose leaves.

the journalling spot:

i used the new PRIMA romantique cling mounted stamps set to create most of the embellishments on this layout. i coloured the prints with copic ciao markers:

so, what about you? what do you have in mind when you hear about "NEW beginning"?

i hope you will join me in this exciting NEW adventure on our brand NEW website?

i can't wait to see your NEW creations in the gallery!

hugs 'n smiles,

SANTA's book {DT work heartfelt creations}

hello lovely friends!

as i promised, i'm sharing today the latest layout i made for HEARTFELT CREATIONS.

heartfelt creations products i used:

i started with the big book. i stamped the large book frame from the HC book frame 1 precut set on a crème cardstock; enlarged it from each side, coloured it with DERWENT watercolour pencils and cut out the book. if you are interested in a step-by-step tutorial on how to make the book, click HERE.

once the book was ready, i shaped my pictures and glued them to the frame. i punched a frame from green pattern paper with the martha stewart's "woodland branch" edge punch and added it under the book. then i positioned the complete book on a sheet of  webster's pages "decoration" pattern paper and cut out the christmas tree element so it would pop up on the layout.

i stamped the note sheet from the HC book frame 1 precut set on the pattern paper under the book.

the frame around the edge of the pattern paper is made with DMC cotton tread. i punched two small "frosty village" stripes with martha stewart's edge punch. to add extra dimension, i embossed the houses and outlined them with a brown copic ciao marker.

the christmas blossoms are made with the HC regal poinsettia 1 and 2 precut sets, spellbinders blossoms 2 nestabilities die, brown ink and cuttle bug. if you are interested in a step-by-step tutorial on how to create the poinsettias, click HERE.

i stamped the leaves (small and large) on a green pattern paper and cut them out. positioned them around the flowers to complete the christmas bouquet.

the title is written with the matching storytellers cardstock alphabet from the "waiting for santa" paper line. to finish off the layout i added golden and red glitter dots to trim the christmas tree.

thank you for stopping by my blog and having a peek, and thanks so much for your kind comments, your feedback means a lot to me!

if you like the LOVELY regal poinsettia precut sets from the HC limited edition stamp sets you can purchase them only until 31 of december! so hurry up and they can be home for christmas!

poinsettia flowers using heartfelt creations regal poinsettia precut sets

hello scrappy friends!

with CHRISTMAS coming everybody is busy making christmas cards or scrapping those last christmas pictures from previous years. what i've noticed is that i'm always short of different sized poinsettias to embellish my creations. and there is noting more irritating than being stuck in the middle, because of a flower shortage:-)

so, here is a fun and easy way to create your own poinsettias any size you want. all you need is red and green cardstock / pattern paper, HEARTFELT CREATIONS regal poinsettia 1 & 2 precut sets, golden glitter glue and some brads.

step 1: stamp different size poinsettias on a red pattern paper. cut them out using the SPELLBINDERS blossoms 2 nestabilities die and cuttle bug {or any other type of die cutting machine}.

step 2: emboss the back side of the poinsettia's petals - move the embossing pen from the center of the flower to the edge of the petals.

step 3: separate the petals and shape the large ones by hand - pick up the blossom with your left hand and lift the petal up; press it in the middle with your left thumb and pinch the "nose" of the petal with your right thumb and index finger; push the "nose" on your petal toward the center of the poinsettia. repeat this action on every large petal.

step 4: layer the different size poinsettias on top of each other. add 3d foam tape between the layers to create dimension and add a brad or a button to the center. finish off the poinsettias by adding a hint of golden stickles glitter glue to some of the petals.

to complete your poinsettia arrangement on your layout, add leaves and swirls from green pattern paper.

so, no need for fancy christmas flowers! the lovely poinsettias above can be done only with a stamp, pattern paper/cardstock and a pair of scissor {if you don't own a die cutting machine}. i had a lot of fun creating those poinsettias for some of my upcoming layouts {design team work for HEARTFELT CREATIONS}.

i'll be posting my first HEARTFELT CREATION christmas layout tomorrow and i hope you will come back for a peek!

how to create a book die cut using the heartfelt creations book frame precut set

hello scrappy friends!

today i have a new tutorial to share with you. this one is about making your own tailor made book die cut.

all you need is a creme-coloured cardstock {or any other colour}, pencil, ink, HEARTFELT CREATIONS book frame 1 precut set, HEARTFELT CREATIONS vintage word background precut set and a ruler.

step 1: stamp the big book frame from the set on a piece of cardstock.

step 2: outline the pages by using a pencil and a ruler. i left 4 cm on each side, marked the space with little dots and then connected them together. it gets a bit of a practice until you get the curves of the pages right, but at the end you should have a perfect larger copy of the stamp on your cardstock.

step 3: cut out the inner page from step 2 and use it as a stencil for the book cover. draw some lines for the other pages on each side and colour the cover red.

step 4: when you are done, drawing, colouring and cutting your book should like like this:

step 5: outline one of the pages on a piece of paper and cut out the inside 0,5 cm from the edge. put the cover on the page and stamp it with the vintage background precut set.

step 6: repeat the same action on the other side and the pages of your book are complete.

step 7: attach the page on top of the cover with 3d foam tape and your book is complete.

and here is a close up on how it looks on my layout:

so there you have it, some fun ways to use the AMAZING stamps from heartfelt creations and an easy way to have a tailor made die cut on your layout!

pink winter {webster's pages}

hello scrappy friends!

today i want to share my newest pink winter layout you! having a little girl at home everything by default is PINK. so when i saw the new webster's pages "winter fairy tales" collection, i knew that i have the perfect PINK WINTER pictures to go with it!

for the background i used white cardstock, pink bubblegum glimmer mist and fanciful stencils glimmer screens. i cut 0,5cm from each side and stitched the glimmered cardstock on the green side from "your story - webster's pages" pattern paper.

to create the various embellishments i used marianne design "let it snow" {the snowflakes} and inkadinkado "snowy owl" clear stamps. i added rhinestones and pearls for extra glitter and glam.

the snowflake and christmas ball dies are from marianne design as well as the smaller stamped snowflakes.

i stamped the chistmas tree with PRIMA marketing "north country" collection stamps and trimmed the small rhinestones.

the purple heart comes from a package full with webster's pages whimsies.

i cut out the snow poll from the "your story" pattern sheep and embellished it with rhinestones and stickles glitter glue.

the title is written with the storyteller alphabet cardstock stickers.

the pink swirl is from ZVA creative.

i hope you enjoyed today's post!

little miss sunshine

hello scrappy friends!

today i want to share with you a layout i made as a present to a very dear friend of mine. i had a photo shoot with her baby {the sweetest little girl ever} where i made about 100 pictures:-) and then i had to choose one... you see my problem... the little angel was smiling all the time and she was such a lovely model, hence the title -  "little miss sunshine" - it fits her perfectly!

just look at her smiling face - isn't she a doll?!

to create my backgound i mixed lemongrass, tuscan sun and sunflower glimmer mist. i printed two pictures - black and white and coloured one to create the 3d effect of the photo.

for this layout i used the very COLOURFUL and BRIGHT "urban prairie" paper line from BASIC GREY, some PIRMA flowers and different punches and embellishments.

the title is written with scrapworks "flea market" scrapbook alphabet and i added green rhinestones.

the butterflies are cut from the "patchwork quilt" basic grey paper and the hearts are made with sew easy and dmc cotton tread.

the chipboard elements come from the same BASIC GREY collection. to create the paper stripes i used martha stewart deep edge punch "scroll heart" and ek success "button chain" large edger punch.

the pretty blossoms and the nice pearls are from PRIMA marketing, as are the rose leaves and the sculpture flowers.

i really hope my friend will enjoy her present!

and i hope you enjoyed today's post!

hugs 'n smiles,
Emmy
