#cool #boy {creative embellishments & MME}

hello everybody!

i just came up with a brand new product combination - CREATIVE EMBELLISHMENTS & MY MIND'S EYE - doesn't it sounds like a lot of FUN?! and indeed - it is!

here is what i created using products from these two amazing companies -

"#COOL #BOY"

when i went to BULGARIA - my home country - this summer i had booked a professional photo shoot for my kids. i mean, we all take pictures of our babies and i love doing it, but i really like to have professional pics as well.

so, i took my two monkeys and their little cousin to the studio and we had three hours of dressing up and a lot of fun! the end result - over 60 perfect pictures, which you will see in most of my layouts!

this one is with THEO - he wasn't posing, he was just laying tired on the floor, but i LOVE it!

the papers i used on this project are from MY MIND'S EYE lost and found portobello road collection. i know it is a bit old paper line, but i really like all the glittery papers and amazing colours in it.

to alter my chipboard pieces i used VERSAMARK ink and SPARKLE N SPRINKLE embossing powders.
for my title i used one of my favorite CE sets social hash tags – there are so many wonderful words to choose from! i decided to go with #COOL and #BOY - there is actually only #BOYS in the set, but you can easily remove the S.
i covered the chippies with white distress enamel first and then with SNS cappuccino [EP422] embossing powder.

then i used one of the newest additions in the rubber stamps range – the paint splat trio stamp – with blue ink to alter the background paper.

 to gather the different stars sizes i combined two chipboard sets – falling star border for the smaller ones …

 ... and stars frame set for the larger ones. i altered the chippies with SNS mediterranean star [EP429] embossing powder.

i also added an extra chipboard layer under my picture, using the circles background chipboard piece.

 i hope you enjoyed today’s post!

have an amazing weekend!

summer smile {SPARKLE N SPRINKLE}

hello sparkly friends!

i've got a new sparkly layout to share today!

i don’t know about you, but i’m really done with the rainy cold weather in HOLLAND.
here is something to look forward to -

"SUMMER SMILE"

 lately i'm really into customized background papers:-) there are so much fun to create and you can really match the look and feel of your picture in the most perfect way!

here is how i created the background for this layout in a few easy-peasy steps:
1. you need a white cardstock, watermark ink, a masking template and your favorite embossing powders.

2. place the template onto the white cardstock sheet. add watermark ink to the areas you want to color first, remove the masking template and sprinkle embossing powder on top of it. heat emboss the set.

3. repeat the steps above for every color you want to add to your background.
 i used SNS moss star embossing powder [EP430] and skylight embossing powder [EP212].

once the embossing powders cool down, you can begin building up your design.

to alter the chipboard frame {CREATIVE EMBELLISHMENTS "time flies" frame set} i used mediterranean star embossing powder [EP429]. i layered the picture on a slightly bigger light brown cardstock and adhered it under the frame with 3d foam squares.

 i used different pattern papers from the very boyish MY MIND'S EYE "lime twist" collection to embellish my page.

and three different types of washi tape – i used two as a background stripes, from the third one i cut out the little cameras and placed them on the green dotted paper.

for my title i used CREATIVE EMBELLISHMENTS "social hash tags" chipboard set. i covered the words with SNS white detail embossing powder [EP298] first to create the basis for my main colour - the yellow of the dandy dandelion embossing powder [EP178]. adding a white layer to cover the natural colour of the chippie, really made the yellow shine on my title.

here are some more close ups of my layout:

i fussy cut the little hot air balloons from the pattern paper, embossed them and adhered them to my background with 3d foam squares

as you can see i used the negative of a die cut gear wheel, which i used previously on another layout - yep, i'm saving everything from my favourite collections!

i hope you enjoyed today’s post!
have a great weekend!

once upon a night

hello scrappy friends!

it's a bit last minute, but here is my entry for ROUND 4 {indeed!!! i never thought i'll make it! THANK YOU to all of you who voted for me!!!} at the SUPREME SCRAP TOURNAMENT.

this week the challenge was "HIDE & SEEK".

the details:
create a double page layout with eight or more pictures {no duplicates};
create three or more hidden elements on your pages - flaps, tags, etc.;
not allowed - all kinds of ink (including spray ink and misting ink), paint, stamps, gesso and chalk;
deadline - SUNDAY, march 16, 21.00 CET

so here is what i came up with -

"ONCE UPON A NIGHT"

all the pictures are from my sister's birthday party. the dress code was green, purple or black or a costume, which is really not you.

this is a close up of page one with two hidden elements:

page two with two hidden elements:

i mixed a very vintage MY MIND'S EYE collections - BOHEMIA and 29th STREET, with one of their more recent lines - LOST and FOUND. i used also different colour cardstock and PRIMA marketing ledger pad.

the biggest challenge for me was to create a dynamic design with depth and layers without any colouring agents. i drew my inspiration from a GRAPHIC 45 workshop from scrapbook generations.

i started with white cardstock and MME pattern papers. i did some punching and distressed the edges of some of the papers to separate them from each other, without inking their sides.

i embellished my layout with mulberry paper roses and swirly die cuts. i used MARIANNE DESIGN dies for the leaves.

 for my first hidden element i decided to use a tag. i decorated it with organza ribbon and natural tread.

the fancy punched edge i made with MARTHA STEWART "scroll heart" deep edge punch.

for my second hidden element i used SIZZIX pop up die and mini hearts magnetic dies. the LOVE chippie is from CREATIVE EMBELLISHMENTS. i covered it with SPARKLE N SPRINKLE fiery brown embossing powder.

i created my third hidden element with the same SIZZIX die, but this time instead of a message, i used a picture as a pop up element. the good times corner i cut with DIE-VERSIONS corner concepts die.

for my fourth and final hidden element i used a book-like frame. i due cut two tag-tops and used them to close the picture book.

for the title i used MY MIND'S EYE glittery sticker alphabet. i adhered the flags with mounting tape to my page to five it a 3-d effect.

i used CANVAS CORP hemp cord to "hang" the banner title.

i hope you enjoyed today's post!

wish me luck this round!

happy cool boy {creative embellishments}

hello scrappy friends!

are you ready to play???

the new challenge at CREATIVE EMBELLISHMENTS is on and it is a lot of fun this month! and the prize is a $20.00 gift voucher to the CE online store.

here is my take on -

"HAPPY COOL BOY"

and the challenge is to simply use the inspiration picture and design team member TAMMY’s amazing sketch. you can be inspired by the colors, a small element such as a butterfly , flower, fairy etc. all you need to do is make sure to use 1 element from the picture and combine with the sketch of course.

inspiration picture

and TAMMY's sketch

i was very inspired by the blue and the green on the inspiration picture and the flying petals and decided to create a layout with a lot of boyish elements on it.

for my background i used white cardstock and two different PRIMA marketing masks with TIM HOLTZ distress ink pads - blue and green.

the pattern paper is from MY MIND'S EYE.

i altered the chippies with embossing powders and different colours glitters from SPARKLE N SPRINKLE.

and the rules are pretty simple:
* create a NEW project layout, mini album, tag, card, canvas, etc….as of march 1st 2014.
