another TELEGRAPH ROAD layout {KAISERCRAFT & MERLY IMPRESSIONS}

hello scrappy friends!

it is my turn today over at the MERLY IMPRESSIONS blog and i've got a new project with a short tutorial on how to choose the right colours for your layout, using the amazing KAISERCRAFT collections, to share.

the KAISERCRAFT paper lines have amazing colourful patterns and are perfect to use with any type of pictures. but every now and then, i would like to choose just a few colours from the collection to match my photograph better.

today, i decided to work with the yellow, green and blue from the TELEGRAPH ROAD paper line. as an extra basic colour i added dark brown, but i left out the pink and the red colour from this KAISERCRAFT collection.

 this picture was taken a few years ago in GUATEMALA on top of one of the highest MAYAN’s temples and though it was a very bright sunny day, because of the nature and the ruins, the picture turned out a bit dark and brownish-green, which is prefect for the colour combination i choose to work with.

to create this layout, i used the 2nd KAISERCRAFT sketch for march:

for my background i decided to use the collect die-cut glossy paper. i stamped randomly postmarks with the timeless postmarks clear stamp and KAISERCRAFT brown ink pad and added a bit of texture using the TIM HOLTZ broken china distress ink pad and the KAISERCRAFT grunge background clear stamp

i carefully selected the papers (12 x 12″ pattern sheets and 6 x 6" from the paper pad) and the die-cut elements from the COLLECTABLES package with the colours i wanted to use.

to build the layers under my picture i used papers from the TELEGRAPH ROAD 6 x 6" paper pad and KAISERCARD coffee bean weave cardstock.

 i aged the edges of some of my layers using the TIM HOLTZ paper distresser tool. on other layers i die-cut  one of the edges to match my background paper, using TIM HOLTZ “torn notebook” on the edge die.

 to embellish my layout further, i used die cuts from the COLLECTABLES package and fussy cut framed sayings from the paper pad.

 it was really fun to look at all those pretty die cuts and select the ones, i needed.

i also added some vintage flowers from PETALOO and blue and brown mulberry paper roses.

i used various MARIANNE DESIGN and JOY! crafts dies for leaves and the swirls. the awesome chevron and arrow chippies are from SCRAPMATTS. i altered them with brown embossing powder.

 i hope i managed to inspire you today!

have a creative day!

happy moments {SCRAPMATTS + KAISERCRAFT}

hello scrappy friends!

i was so excited when SOFIE {the owner of SCRAPMATTS} has asked me to be a GUEST DESIGNER of SCRAPMATTS for the months of august and september. i've been admiring their beautiful chippies for some time now and i was thrilled to have the chance to play with them!

today i would like to share a layout i created using the CB4007 frames 02 set -

"HAPPY MOMENTS"

on the picture is HAPPY ELISE with her new pink summer dress.

i based my layout on KAISERCRAFT saturday sketch:

i used KAISERCRAFT "up, up and away" and "chanteuse" collections and a lot of colourful glitters and embossing powders from SPARKLE N SPRINKLE

i started with white cardstock from KAISERCRAFT "coconut wave", KAISERCOLOUR "pretty pink" acrylic paint and KAISERCRAFT "bubble wrap" background stamp.

after my design was dry, i added the dimensional butterflies, using PRIMA marketing "butterflies" mask and modeling paste. then i spattered a few different colours of GLIMMER MIST to create the artsy effect.

to frame my picture i used SCRAPMATTS' CB4007 frames 02 set. i cover the chippe with two different colours embossing powder from SPARKLE N SPRINKLE - sage {EP351} and melon twist {EP402}. to finish off the decoration of the frame, i added SHELL PINK GLITTER {G1022} to the small blossoms.

to adhere the glitter i used SAKURA glitter pen - really handy for the small details.

for the chippie butterflies i used embossing powder {PRINCESS ROSE - EP387} and glitter {BRONZE SPLENDOR - G1012}.

to decorate my page i fussy cut the paper flowers from KAISERCRAFT pattern paper. i embossed them and added white pearls in the middle. i used also ribbon roses to complete my flower cluster.

for my title i used two different set from SCRAPMATTS - CB1198 scrapwords 06 and CB6071 assorted words 07.

here is a list with some of the products i used on this page:

i hope you enjoyed today's post!
