at the beach {FABER-CASTELL & DIE-VERSIONS}

hello scrappy friends!

today i would like to share one of my recent projects featuring the AMAZING FABER-CASTELL design memory craft products and the NEWEST DIE-VERSIONS release "life's a beach" - 

"AT THE BEACH"

you've probably already noticed my passion for tailor made, hand painted background papers. today i want to show you how to use art GRIP® aquarelle watercolor pencils, paper crafter crayons™ and stamper's big brush pens to create one of a kind, perfectly fit for your pictures background. 

here is a short tutorial i wrote for you: 

step 1: you need a white cardstock 12 x 12", THE CRAFTER'S WORKSHOP "hexagons" doodling template, Art GRIP® aquarelles: YELLOW (#770111), water and a brush. 

trace the design from the template on to the white cardstock. then use a wet paintbrush to brush over your design to achieve the watercolor effect.

step 2: outline some of the hexagons with matching colors paper crafter crayons™ : RED/YELLOW to give extra depth to your project.

step 3: use matching colors stamper's big brush pens: RED (#770050) to stamp different images to your background.

i used an old INKADINKADO clear stamp for the sea creatures. for the water bubbles i used FLOURISH WITH A BLING "adhesive rhinestones 100 pack - silver", which i coloured with PITT® Artist Pens: RED/YELLOW (#770076) - orange.

to embellish my layout i used BO BUNNY "sun kissed" paper collection and the new JUNE 2013 release from DIE-VERSIONS "life's a beach".

i cut the lovely sand castle with the new WHISPERS "sand castle" die. i layered the die cut on a yellow pattern paper to create a dimensional embellishment. the cute crabs are from the same release - SWEET PETITES "crab". i coloured his body with paper crafter crayons™.

i arranged some of the cardstock sticker words and phrases on a few stripes of green washi tape.

for my title i used another die from the JUNE 2013 release - cute cubes "life is better at the beach". 

the fishes are from the INKADINKADO clear stamp set as well. 

i doodled the clouds and added the punched border to my design.

the shell is cut with another die from the JUNE 2013 release - WHISPERS "scalloped shell". i cut it in two and added it next to my pictures.

color combo challenge #234

hello scrappy friends!

i'm so excited today as it is my very FIRST reveal as a design member for color combos galore challenge site! it is an amazing community with a weekly color challenge and great prizes to be won!

this week's palette is silver - gray - blue gray - beige - brown and here is what i have done with it:

this layout is based on color combo #234: moonlight serenade

to complete my layout i used all five colours from the colour palette and i chose inspiration photo #1 - focus on mediums: powders. i also decided to add inked edges from inspiration photo #3, and then some flowers and pearls from inspiration photo #2.

i begun with a white cardstock, stamps, the crafter's workshop "bricks" 12 x 12" template  PANPASTEL, RANGER "coffee" archival ink and silver embossing powder. i used TIM HOLTZ "Mini Ornate" cling stamp for the flying birds and MME clear stamp for the doily edge. the silver dots are made with RANGER paint dabber "silver"

i don't remember where i got the wooden boats from, but i thought they fit perfectly with the whole idea of my page. i altered the small one with embossing ink and TIM HOLTZ distress embossing powder "vintage photo". i used also MARTHA STEWART deep edge pinch "daisy fan" and "stars" edge punch to create the borders around my picture.

for the title i used WORDS OR WHATEVER chippie, which i altered with RANGER embossing powder "silver". the amazing flowers are from PRIMA marketing and the fished are stamped with INKADINKADO stamp and treated with embossing powder as well.

the paper is from WEBSTER'S PAGES "yacht club" collection and the trim is from the "all about me" trim pack.

christmas is here {DT work for FWAB}

 hello lovelies!

today's post is about a layout a made last month for the challenge at FWAB {YES! indeed... there is a monthly challenge going on at FWAB with awesome prizes to be won!}

"christmas is here"

i used TILDA's "winter play" and "winter memories" paper line.

i begun with a white cardstock, the crafter's workshop "chicken wire reversed" mask and a selection of PANPASTELS. after i was satisfied with the result, i stamped a few whimsical images with inkadinkado clear stamps.

for the title i used a sticker from TILDA. i glued it on a cardstock and add to to my page with 3d adhesive tape.

the lovely pink pearly swirl is from flourish with a bling "grace pearl flourish pink". 

i colored the PRIMA resin bird embellishment with a mixture of gesso with pink glimmer glam. added a little bit of glitter powder to extra glimmer and glam!

i used different cut outs to embellish my page.

for the punched frame i used MARTHA STEWART edge punches "stars" and "double scallop"

how to create a shimmering background {DT work for PaperHaus}

today i would like to share with you one of my latest tutorial, created for THE PAPERHAUS MAGAZINE - how to create a shimmering background in 3 easy steps. 

 products you will need: 

white cardstock 

art anthology sorbet dimensional gel paint “LINEN”, “SPLASHED” and “FROST” 

glimmer mist “FROST” 

perfect pearls mist “PERFECT PEARL” 

tattered angels “winter crystals” glimmer screens 

tattered angels glimmer chips “frosty memories” 

prima marketing “ledger” paper pad 

prima marketing tiny alphabet stickers

quickutz “blossom” alphabet dies 

spellbinders “snowflake pendant 2010” die 

spellbinders “create a flake” die 

donna downey “organic dots” mask 

step 1: position the snowflake glimmer screens on your cardstock and spray it with glimmer mist. allow it to dry.

step 2: take a brush and carefully fill in the white snowflake images on the background with art anthology “FROST” gel paint. don’t try to paint over it, but dab it with the brush to create the dimensional effect. after the paint is dry, add some beads in the middle of the snowflakes. 

step 3: position your mask at the corners of the cardstock and add some art anthology “splashed” gel paint. allow it to dry. 

 now that your cardstock is all glittery and shimmering, you can begin building your layout. 

 to finish off my background i did some stamping and doodled the dotty pattern at the corner with copic ciao markers. then, I sprayed the glimmer chipboard element with the perfect pearl mist and add it above my photo.

to create the snowflakes i used shimmering cardstock, prima marketing pattern paper and spellbinders cutting dies. i layered them and arranged them around my picture. 

 the large letters for my title i cut out with quickutz alphabet dies and i painted them with art anthology “LINEN” gel paint. 

i added some buttons and pearls to finish off my design.
