PRIMA mixed media album class

when i found out that PRIMA's educators sharon laakkonen and cari fennell are coming to the netherlands i knew that there is only one thing to do - sing in for their classes!

unfortunately due to lack of time i could attend only the MIXED MEDIA ALBUM class with sharon laakkonen! and i can honestly tell you it was AMAZING!

we played with PanPastels {amazing new mixed mediums - the artist pastels in a pan}, paint {tim holtz' dabbers}, ink, stamps, masks, watercolor stuff and more PRIMA goodies.

here is what i created on this amazing class:

i coloured the mixed media album with panpastels. i used about 10 different colours to achieve the colours and the shadowing i wanted.

then we worked with the watercolour sheets {the big blue/pink heart} from the album filling. i stamped the big heart {donna downey stamp} with clear ink and then i coloured the page with panpastels.

the resist canvas sheets {the pink damask sheet and the yellow notes sheet} i coloured with watercolour paint - mixing colours, applying different techniques to make the resist pattern appear on the front part.

on the plain canvas sheets {the brown heart with glitter and the stamped one} - i used watercolor paint, large stamps with watercolour paint on one page and acrylic paint on the other; added glitter and distress ink to create the shadow effect.

i had a lot of FUN playing with the different techniques and the different mixed art mediums.

and here are some pictures of the lovely ladies from this class

on my way back to amsterdam i travelled with sharon and cari - the most creative and sweet ladies ever! they are absolutely amazing not only as artists, but as persons as well! i'm looking forward to their next visit  in holland!

she is lovely {webster's and prima}

good morning scrappy friends!

just popping in to share my last DT layout for the MARCH MADNESS competition going on at SCRAPBOOK CHALLENGES.

this week the challenge was to create a layout with your favourite colour.as my favourite colour is malachite my layout had to be green with whitem kraft or black background.

"she is lovely"

isn't she?:-)

this is my darling elise, being a fairy early in the morning by the pool in EGYPT.

i used "garden gala" papers and embellishments from WEBSTER'S PAGES and flowers from PRIMA marketing.

i stitched, stamped {using tattered angels' swirl stamps and heartfelt creations HCPC 3323 large elegant word background precut set with colorbox green ink} and doodled to create my background.

for the flower clusters i used PRIMA marketing {trinket sweet fairy flowers, metal flowers, sculptured blossoms and rose leaves}, petaloo mulberry flowers, which i coloured with glimmer mist {hola hoop} and green crochet blossoms.

did you spy the cute little green silhouette? it's from webster's pages - they've got a broad range of the cutest little whimsies.

i used ZVA creative green swirls to add fairy look and feel to my page

i hope you like today's post! if you did - go to SCRAPBOOK CHALLENGES' forum and vote for me!:-)

thanks for stopping by! i hope everyone has a beautiful weekend!

simply the best {DT work for HEARTFELT CREATIONS}

good morning scrappy friends!

it's HEARTFELT CREATIONS' wednesday and i've prepared a brand new layout for you, featuring their newest collection "MY GUY"

heartfelt creations products used on this page:

for this layout i used the amazing "french kiss" paper line from glitz design. i shaped the edges of the background paper with martha stewart's “CHERISH” corner punch and “STARS” edge punch and stitched the frame with red tread. then i stamped the western collage from HC western collage set to the left bottom corner and a few of the rock scenery images to the right bottom corner with different colours COLORBOX pigment inkpads.

i cut a piece of blue pattern paper 17 x 22 cm, punched its edges with martha stewart's  “cherish” edge set and created a pattern by stamping it with HC my guy precut set. then i cut another piece of red pattern paper {13 x 18 cm}, drew a frame with white pen on it and placed it on top of the blue rectangle. i distressed the edges of the picture and adhere it on top of the pattern paper rectangles.

the banners are made with two stripes of brown cardstock {2.5 x 8 cm and 2.5 x 7 cm} and two stripes of pattern paper {2 x 8 cm and 2 x 7 cm } and star-shaped brads.

for the flowers - i stamped different sized flowers on pattern papers {HC daisy patch flowers precut set and HC carnation florals 2 precut set}, die cut them using HC daisy patch die and spellbinders carnation creation shapeabilities, shaped the petals with an embossing pen and assembled the flowers with a brad.

then i stamped 1 big and 2 small horses with HC western bronco set and 2 boots and a hat with HC birch tree precut set. die cut them with HC western broncos die and my cuttlebug. for the foliage - i die cut leafy branches from olive green cardstock, embossed the leaves and arranged them around the picture. i added the flowers and the horses on top of them.

the tag is cut with spellbinders fancy tags two shapeabilities. got the sentiment i used HC western bronco precut set. i added stickles “turquoise”glitter glue on the swirls of the tag to match the blue accents on my layout, as well to the boots and the hat at the top right corner.

i added turquoise rhinestones to finish off the page.

and don't forget that there is still time to vote for your favourite designer {ME:-)}. this year we are doing things a little differently at HC and we are giving you the opportunity to get involved and vote for 5 or more of your current favorite design team members. you can CLICK HERE, follow the survey link and submit your vote. when you vote, you will also be entered into a drawing to be eligible to win a $50 HC gift certificate. you can only vote one time and you have to select 5 or more to be eligible to participate. voting ends on april 13th, 2012.

on the polar express {scrapbook challenges}

hello scrappy friends!

i'm hosting the COLOUR challenge at scrapbook challenges this month and here is the palette i've chosen for you {because it is finally SPRING}:

this lovely palette is coming from design seeds and there are many more there, if you are looking for a colour inspiration.

here is what i created with it:

i named it "on the polar express" because of THEO's outfit and all the trains and little animals on the papers. i used BASIC GREY's "oliver" collection. it is perfect for THEO's reindeer outfit.

i did a lot of fussy cutting on this layout, to create my embellishments:

 for the banner i used spellbinders die and the cute little animals from Sam pattern paper:

the ribbon is from PRIMA marketing:

if you want to join me at SCRAPBOOK CHALLENGES you should follow these rules:

  • you MUST use all the colors from the color palette
  • you can use basic colors {black, white, craft}
  • and since march theme is "handmade" - you title has to be HANDMADE - no stickers, no printing
not so difficult i hope!

with this layout i'm playing along at the 19.03.12 layout challenge on BASIC GREY's blog.

i hope you enjoyed today's post!

and i hope to see your colourful creations at SC gallery!

hugs 'n smiles,
Emmy

sun kissed cheeks {inspired by "a sweethaven summer"}

hello scrapy friends!

i recently found out that courtney walsh is hosting a challenge on her blog.

the challenge was to create a layout inspired by her new book "A SWEETHAVEN SUMMER"

it was the cover of the book that triggered me to create my page - when i saw it i knew that i have the perfect picture and the matching papers to finish my page.

on the picture - elise and theo last summer on the beach. he is babbling something in his baby language and she is smiling at him with so much love and patience. somehow, without staging them, i managed to capture the precious bond between a little brother and his big sister.

i LOVE this picture of my little darlings! and as you can see webster's "yacht club" collection was perfect for it.

if you want to join this challenge, there are still few hours left. just go to COURTNEY's blog for more detailed information and loads of inspiration!

have a great weekend!

hugs 'n smiles,

sharing everything {march madness round 1}

hello scrappy friends!

today i need YOUR vote!

as i announced in the beginning of the month there is a new game going on at SCRAPBOOK CHALLENGES - the MARCH MADNESS

round 1 was this week - the challenge was to create a layout with all 10 elements from the first 10 letters of your first and middle name {for more information on how it works, click HERE}.

the list i've got, based on the first 10 letters from my first and middle name was:
E - envelop
M - monogram
I - ink
L - lace
I - ink
A - acrylic paint
E - envelop
M - monogram
I - ink
L - lace

and here is what i cooked up with these ingredients -

SHARING EVERYTHING

i really like the way this layout turned out. on the pictures are THEO and ELISE. both of them are around 1 year and few months old and theo's is wearing elise's dungaree shorts:-)

i just LOVE those pictures!

i used PRIMA marketing "so cute" collections and various flowers and embellishments. the edges of the blue and white cardstock are punched with martha stewart edge punches "cherish" and "pansy".

from my "name recipe" i used two envelopes - pink and blue, which i tucked under the pictures. i'll use them to keep the first lock of hair of my babies:

the lace - four different types - is attached to the envelopes, so i can easily pull them out.

i used three different colours ink - TIM HOLTZ' tea dye distress ink {on the edges of the blue cardstock and to to stamp the bricky background}, colorbox pink and blue {on the pansies, around the name tags}

the monograms are the first letters from ELISE and Theo's names.

i used pink and blue acrylic paint to colour some of the bricks:

and now i need your VOTE! you have until tomorrow to vote for me, HERE, so i can move on to the next round.

if you think that this is a FUN challenge, you are more then welcome to participate! click HERE for more detailed information. BRYNN is giving an awesome prize to one talented crafter!

i hope to see you at round 2!:-)

i believe in you {DT work for heartfelt creations}

hello scrappy friends!

it's HEARTFELT CREATIONS wednesday again and i've got another layout, made with the AMAZING "my guy" collection, to share

"i believe in you"

heartfelt creations products used on this project:

the background paper is from BO BUNNY cambrige collection.

i knitted two stripes from the true hemp crafters cord and place them around the pictures. i secured them with brads. then i inked only the “i believe in you” phrase from HC my guy set with colorbox pigment inkpad “midnight”. i stamped the sentiment carefully on the background paper. i punched a star shape, added a brad and placed it next to the big picture.

using the HC daisy patch die i cut 6 large, 4 middle and 3 small daisies from double sided pattern paper. then i embossed the petals, assembled the flowers, added a button to the middle and tied the layers together with green hemp cord.

cut and emboss 1 big and 2 small horses with the HC western broncos die. cut grass shapes from light and dark green cardstock. distress the light ones with TIM HOLTZ’ tea dye distress ink. arrange the grass under the pictures – use 3d tape to add extra dimension to your layout. add the three large daisy blossoms and the horses. cut few branches with HC belle rose die and arrange them around the rest of the elements using 3d adhesive tape.

i attached the small daisy above the small picture and added two horse shoes under it {die cut them with HC western broncos die}.

using the HC western broncos die cut leafy branches from light and dark green cardstock. distress the light green ones with tea dye distress ink and some of the dark green ones with vintage photo distress ink. arrange the branches at the top left corner of your layout. use double sided and 3d tape to adhere them.

i hope you enjoyed today's project!

have a wonderful week!

hugs 'n smiles,
Emmy

discover the world together

good evening scrappy friends!

i've got a brand new layout to share with you today.

discover the world together

when i start a vacation layout, i'm always struggling whit the amount of pictures per place vs. hours per day:-)
so, i decided for this one to use  random pictures from random vacation with all of us on them. and if i have to honest, i quite like the result:-)

i used little yellow bicycle "pack your bags" collection. i really like the fancy canvas stickers and clear cut shapes that are complimenting the wonderful papers.

i hand-stitched the airplanes

with this layout i'm playing along at bird is the word february challenge "DISCOVER".

have a great evening!

hugs 'n smiles,
Emmy

little sprout {SC #286 & CCG #221}

hello scrappy friends!

i've got a new layout to share with you today - LITTLE SPROUT:

i used the AMAZING simple stories paper line "BABY STEPS" and pictures of my little baby THEO.

this layout is inspired by this month colour palette at color combos galore #221:

i used all four colours - brown, green, blue and natural:

the designer's challenge - use wood on your project - i used wooden hearts. i applied a layer of gesso on the hearts and after they were dry, i coloured them with glimmer mist "FROST":

the bonus challenge - i really really love OWLS - so, when i saw the picture the first thing that popped up into my mind were owls and as you can see i used a lot of them on my layout:

i based my layout on sketch #286 from SCRAPBOOK CHALLENGES

i flipped the sketch and added extra elements to complete my page.

have a great evening and come back tomorrow:-)

hugs 'n smiles,
Emmy
