hello scrappy friends!
with CHRISTMAS coming everybody is busy making christmas cards or scrapping those last christmas pictures from previous years. what i've noticed is that i'm always short of different sized poinsettias to embellish my creations. and there is noting more irritating than being stuck in the middle, because of a flower shortage:-)
so, here is a fun and easy way to create your own poinsettias any size you want. all you need is red and green cardstock / pattern paper, HEARTFELT CREATIONS regal poinsettia 1 & 2 precut sets, golden glitter glue and some brads.
step 1: stamp different size poinsettias on a red pattern paper. cut them out using the SPELLBINDERS blossoms 2 nestabilities die and cuttle bug {or any other type of die cutting machine}.
step 2: emboss the back side of the poinsettia's petals - move the embossing pen from the center of the flower to the edge of the petals.
step 3: separate the petals and shape the large ones by hand - pick up the blossom with your left hand and lift the petal up; press it in the middle with your left thumb and pinch the "nose" of the petal with your right thumb and index finger; push the "nose" on your petal toward the center of the poinsettia. repeat this action on every large petal.
step 4: layer the different size poinsettias on top of each other. add 3d foam tape between the layers to create dimension and add a brad or a button to the center. finish off the poinsettias by adding a hint of golden stickles glitter glue to some of the petals.
to complete your poinsettia arrangement on your layout, add leaves and swirls from green pattern paper.
so, no need for fancy christmas flowers! the lovely poinsettias above can be done only with a stamp, pattern paper/cardstock and a pair of scissor {if you don't own a die cutting machine}. i had a lot of fun creating those poinsettias for some of my upcoming layouts {design team work for HEARTFELT CREATIONS}.
i'll be posting my first HEARTFELT CREATION christmas layout tomorrow and i hope you will come back for a peek!
hugs 'n smiles,
Emmy
