watercolour effect with GELATOS + GIVEAWAY {faber-castell}

hello GELATOS friends!

happy saturday! today i would like to share my last post for FABER-CASTELL design memory craft with you. i really enjoyed working with their amazing products for the last 4 months! and i really enjoyed working with a team full of professionals and amazing crafters!

also, at the end of this post, i've got a little surprise for you! and i'm sure you will enjoy it!

so, here is my newest project featuring GELATOS -

SO SWEET

this time i though of exploring all the options to add watercolor effect to my layout using gesso, gelatos and water, of course.
to create this project i worked with paper, canvas, chipboard and plastic.

and here is how i did it:

first i positioned the picture on my background paper {i used 7 dots studio "love is in the air" collection} and marked the place it is going to be with a pencil. then i removed the picture and start adding different colours blending GELATOS with water.

while my background was drying i die cut different shapes from a plastic sheet. i used TIM HOLTZ' bigz dies "pediments" and SIZZIX bigz die "birds". i covered the die cuts with GESSO.

when they dried, i coloured them with GELATOS, choosing colours to match the paper collection.

after the background paper was dry, i added the butterfly pattern using PRIMA marketing "butterflies" masking template and gesso.

... and paint splashes {dissolve a little bit of GELATOS in water and use your brush to create the splashed} and pearls for extra glimmer and glam.

to decorate my page i used SCRAPMATTS chevron chipboard. i covered it with gesso, to mask the raw colour, and then i added a blue gelato to it.

for the resist canvas i used water and GELATOS - the different colors blend easily together, which allowed me create the perfect colour combination for my layout.

i hope i managed to inspire you today!

frog dog studio guest designer: imagine

hello scrappy friends!

today i would like to share my second project with the amazing FROG DOG STUDIO mixed media august kit.

this time i decided to try a boy layout. i know that the ARTchix ephemera pictures look really shabby chic and girly, but as it turned out, you can create a perfect page for boy  as well.

"IMAGINE"

i based my layout on MY MIND'S EYE august sketch chellenge:

i used MME "follow your heart" paper collection and the FROD DOG STUDIO august kit.

and here is a step-by-step tutorial on how i did it:

step 1: choose your picture and mark its place on the background paper. add a blue {or any other color that will fit your design} metallic paint around it.

after the paint is dry, using PRIMA marketing "stars" masking template and VIVA décor glitter paste {included in the kit} add extra dimension to your background.

when the glitter paste is dry you can really see the 3d effect and it is all glittery and sparkly.

step 2: prepare your picture. i added a silver frame around it using the VIVA décor inka gold from the kit and a see-through layer with stars on top of it.

step 3: begin working on your embellishments. i decided to go with all things boy! i cut out one of the ephemera pictures and layered it on a piece of pattern paper.

i added different stripes of washi paper and a button from the button set from clever creations from the kit to embellish it. i layered a piece of the newspaper strip on pattern paper and adhered it next to my picture.

the hot air balloons i die cut from pattern paper and added a layer of VIVA décor inka gold.

i tied one of the balloons to the ARTchix wooden anchors.

i really like the logo of the FROG DOG STUDIO and i managed to use the cute little doggy from TINA's logo on my page. after all – every boy deserves a dog!

step 4: the title – i used TIM HOLTZ' alphabet die and pattern paper

i hope you enjoyed today’s post!
