island in the SUN {DT work for scrapbook challenges}

hello scrappy friends!

as you know the 2nd annual SIZZLIN' SUMMER of SKETCHES is on at SCRAPBOOK CHALLENGES. you will have 20 extra sketches to complete during the month of august and there are some wonderful prizes to be won of course!

here is my take on sketch #6:

"island in the SUN"

and here is the sketch i based my layout on:

i flipped the sketch to be able to use vertical pictures. they are from few years ago when we were in the dominican republic for our christmas holiday. ELISE was so happy just to run in the sun and i couldn't stop myself taking pictures of her:-)

i used FANCY PANTS "rusted sun" collection and a lot of different stamps {i'm really addicted to stamping lately:-)}.

i colored my background with PANPASTELS and then i stamped on it. i used MARTHA STEWART "daisy fan" deep edge punch to create the green border.

instead of journaling spots i added hidden tags behind the pictures. i used DONNA DOWNEY rubber stamps for my sentiment on this tag:

and TIM HOLTZ "postcards" stamp set on this one: 

i left one tag blank for when i fill like writing a personal note to my sweet little ELISE;

i used the crafter's workshop "mini circle explosion" doodling template and modeling paste to create the pattern on the blue pattern paper.

for the title i used TIM HOLTZ "alphabetical" cutting die and brown cardstock.

i coloured the PRIMA resistant canvas with glimmer mist and added the cloud and the rain drops on top of it. i used FLOURISH WITH A BLING "up in the sky" embellishment set.

hello scrappy friends! 

it's the second wednesday of the month and it is time for the big reveal at HEARTFELT CREATIONS.

HCDP1 225 frosty blanket paper collection

i started with a pattern paper from the HC frosty blanket paper collection and colored the poinsettias red. i stamped the corner swirl from HC holiday haven set two times in each corner. then i cut the frame from the green pattern paper, added the little red glitter berries and adhered it on top of my background paper with 3d tape.

i shaped the edges of the red rectangle with martha stewart's CHERISH punch set, stamped few times the corner swirl from HC holiday haven set and covered the stamped images with embossing powder. i added three little reindeers {spellbinders fanciful holiday die} - the first one being RUDOLPH of course:-)

i stamped the branches from HC holiday mail set on green pattern paper and fussy cut them. then i cut the poinsettias from different pattern papers and colored the small ones with copic ciao markers.

 i stamped and die cut the lamp post using HC decorative metal fixtures set and HC decorative metal fixtures die.

i stamped the sentiment from HC holiday haven set and glued it on top of my picture.

i begun by creating the brick wall using modeling paste and the crafter’s workshop “bricks” mask. after the paste was dry i colored the background with panpastels and outlined the bricks with a black sketch marker. i stamped the edge of the lace with HC shabby chic lace set.

for the peonies i used HC posy patch flowers set and HC posy patch die. i added black gala glitz glitter in the middle to embellish them.

for the clematis blossoms i used HC malabar clematis set and HC cross and lilies die. i added black gala glitz glitter in the middle to embellish them.

using the HC botanical floral 2 set and rose creations shapeabilities i stamped and die cut the foliage. i arranged the leaves around the flowers and adhered them with 3d tape.

for the truck and the cute dog i used HC antique truck set and HC classic editions die. then i fussy cut large and small pumpkins and white flowers from the pattern paper and added them to my design.

i stamped and die cut small pumpkins and different sorts of berries using HC pumpkin harvest set, HC ornamental raspberries set, HC organic fillers set and HC classic editions die.

the flowery swirl at the top of my page i created with HC ornamental raspberries set. i stamped the berry corner on three different colors pattern paper, fussy cut the elements and assembled it together.

i die cut the base for the title using the fancy tags two and elegant posts shapeabilities and the spellbinders grand caliber die cutting machine. i outlined the ready sign with black sketch marker and decorated the top part with pumpkins and flowers. for the title i used PRIMA marketing alphabet stickers.

for the small birds i used HC brookside manor set and HC garden romance die.

sizzlin' summer of sketches

HAPPY in the middle with you

hello scrappy friends!

i've created this layout for the july challenge going on at MME. the theme was "halfway there" and since july is halfway through 2012, the challenge was to document day 183 from 2012 {july 1st}!

on july 1st we were at DUINRELL - an attraction park here in holland. we were with close friends, the weather was warm {something very unusual for holland} and the kids were having so much FUN, hence the title!

i used MME "lime twist" collection and few of MME's amazing stamp sets - "lost and found two" and "fine and dandy - girl". 

i begun by creating my own background using the crafter's workshop "reversed chicken wire" mask and modeling paste. after the paste was dry i colored the cardstock and the wire image with PANPASTELS. 

then i distressed my pictures and begun fussy cutting the different elements from the pattern paper. 

i used MME's stamp sets to create the banners:

i cut the title letters with TIM HOLTZ' "alphabetical" die:

the subtitle i wrote by hand using FABER-CASTELL  artist brush pen brown:

i covered my chippie with gesso first and then with snow marker:
